Simple RSS Feed Reader - not fetching new posts was created by Hans-Kristian Grymyr
I might have missed something essential that needs to be done, but I have been testing the Simple RSS Feed Reader for a week + now, and it seems that the only times it fetches new content from the feeds I've given it, is when I go in and update the module from the joomla administrator page.
If I have not been in the admin page for a while messing around, the feed is frozen, not grabbing new posts.
Is there some kind of separate timer or something I need to set up for this to work properly?

Hi,

Ensure that you have set the module caching options properly. On top of the core Joomla! module caching Simple RSS Feed Reader includes a second caching layer. You can control this in the module settings page. The option is named " Cache time (in minutes) for feed content and remote images" .

Thanks for the reply :)
Think I found the setting you speak of, in the simple rss module, advanced tab, "Cache Time".
Is that the correct one? - was set to 900 by default, I set it to 5.

But am not sure I completely grasped whether you are telling me to also change a general site-wide cache setting?
All I can find in that case is under Global configuration -> System tab -> "Cache settings" section, which consists by default of:
Cache* : Off - Caching disabled
Cache Handler : File
Cache Time* : 15

Thanks again for your assistance :)

Those are the core Joomla! caching options. Since you are using Joomla! you should get familiar with them. You probably need to read docs.joomla.org/Cache .

Finally note that the core module "Cache Time" is in seconds. So setting this to 5 makes no sense.

@anzio software

Do you mean that they never change or that they do not change immediately ?

They never change, they just change when save the module again into Joomla admin. Have seen file are writable, and feeds works using joomla feedreader, joomla is the latest version

When you save the module, it's cache is cleared. So probably you need to set up the module caching options according to your needs.
