Copy the module's settings somewhere, uninstall it and then re-install it. Do you still get this issue?

@fotis Same error message after uninstalled and reinstalling. 
By save settings do you mean entry in _extensions table?

I was having the exact same issue, so decided to poke around the module folder (in my joomla install), over at /modules/mod_jw_srfr and noticed the file "_mod_jw_srfr.xml" so I simply renamed it to "mod_jw_srfr.xml" and the module started working.
I'm also on a linux server (shared hosting).

This is indeed a bug for new installations apparently, because the main module XML file is not being renamed. This happens because I wanted the package to be Joomla 1.5 to 3.x compatible (and 4.x compatible in the near future).

It will be addressed really soon.
