Featured Ordering not work was created by ljk
Hi,
I have K2 2.6.7 on a Joomla 3.2.1 site.
In the backend I go to K2 items, change Slected Featured State pulldown to be Featured. This shows me my Featured items. I use the drag and drop to put the items in the order that I want. But when I view them in the front end, they haven't changed.
The menu item is set as follows:
Select Categories: 2 categories set
Fetch listings from children categories: yes
Listing ordering: Inheriet from Category
Featured listings: Show only featured listings
Listing ordering: Ordering
But changing the order doesn't change how they are displayed in the frontend, seems to always be displayed in date created order.
Any idea how to get the featured listings to display in the order set in the backend rather than by creation date?
Thank you.

You can't have the ordering feature when you have selected from the menu multiple categories. Which one's ordering will prevail? Since you have more than one categories the no 1 of ordered numbers is assigned to 2 items. Which one will show first?

Hi,
I would think that it works just like Joomla, you select the featured items and order them, then it uses that order. It shouldn't matter what categories the featured items are in, just that they are featured and the order they have been put in.
You can select just featured items and you can order them, so why can't the menu item use that order?
Thanks.

You are right about that. I'm sorry I must have missed the part that you were referring to featured items only. Indeed that is how K2 also works.
Try to upgrade to K2 version 2.6.8 SVN which is compatible with Joomla! 3.2.x and let me know if this fixes your issue.
You can download it from here: getk2.org/assets/get/

Hi,
I have installed the lastest Dev version on a test site and it does indeed fix the Featured items ordering issue.
Do you have a target release date for 2.6.8?
How risky would it be to install this dev version on a live site?
Thank you.

You won't be having any issues with the dev version installed.
Unfortunately, I don't have a specific date for the release of the 2.6.8 Stable version. It will be soon, though.

I'm using 2.6.8, and when I save the (featured only) item ordering it saves *most* of my items' positions, but one or two of them are not saved in the right place. If I do get one in the right position, then the other is moved into an incorrect position, and I cannot for the life of me get them both to save in the position I tell it to. This is in the backend as well as the frontend.
I am viewing the items in Order, ascending, and they are in multiple categories, and are all Featured. The frontend menu item does show them in the order that they get saved in in the backend; the problem is the backend is not saving them in the order I specified!!
For now we will either keep using a Joomla menu item with Joomla articles, or maybe we will set the order using date modified instead.

Sorry, I only just now saw your reply. I'm using Joomla 3.3.1. I did also check the JS console. There is an error, but I don't think it relates to this issue:
"Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'length' of undefined ".
This same error happens when viewing the K2 category manager. I didn't think this error had anything to do with it, but perhaps it does. Since the JS is minified with everything on just a few lines, it is very hard to determine what specific function call is causing this. I don't see a K2 option for running jQuery without minification though.

jQuery is not causing this. The issue is cause from somewhere else.
Unfortunately the screenshot is too small to read the eactual error.
Is it possible to upload it to imgur?
Also make sure that only one instance of jQuery is loaded.
