Maybe your template provider uses a different folder for the K2 overrides. Some template clubs do that. Try to contact the template provider and ask them for support on this.

I shouldn't be my site template, because i moved the text form being beneath the image to having it next it with my override. If i set the k2 template back to default i goes back to being underneath the image. So my override it working, but for some reason not for my second change.

Maybe there is a different code for the extra fields. Did you notice another extrafields block in the file starting with the same container class, itemExtraFields?

No, I ran a search on the php file I've been modifying and that's the only block of code that had extra fields in it.
