IE6-8 are considered obsolete browsers. However "Polaroids" still "degrades" nicely on those older browsers. IE9 is a different story being an actively developed browser. When the plugin was released, the "Polaroids" layouts was displaying properly on IE9. It seems however things changed inbetween with IE9 browser upgrades and this particular layout is not rendering properly now. IE9 had done the same thing with how it parsed JSON files causing thousands of Twitter widgets to break on IE9 globally. In the meantime we seek a different method to implement this feature.
Understand that CSS3 is not fully supported by IE9. It is definitely not supported by IE6-8, that is why we use JS scripts to trigger proprietary filters in IE which resemble CSS3 (but don't always work).
It all comes down to browser usage on your site. If your site visitors are using IE in more than 50-60%, don't use this gallery layout. If your site visitors use primarily other browsers like Firefox and Chrome, you can use this layout knowing it will serve most of your users (but not all).

Safari, Firefox and Chrome give no problems, only IE... so i think IE is the problem (as in most times ;) ).
Relax please... they are doing a great job overhere.

Do you have a timescale for the fix??
Why I've paid for this gallery?

When I try FF with IE8 user-agent, it works fine. When I view the page on Windows 7 with IE9 in 'IE8 browser mode'**, it works fine, which may explain Katia's results since she said she was on Vista. When I try IE8 on WinXP (IE8 might suck but it's not obsolete as still way too many folks use it and must use it on winXP machines) it does not work from single image and will not work if I click on #s 1- 3 in a gallery of images.

I've also tested this with a gallery streaming from Flickr and with this there seems to be no problem...

... but with local images there is definitely a problem. What's the difference in the programming that IE8 will work fine with images streamed from Flickr vs. images from the Joomla install? This is the question and I need a solution.

We have revised the documentation to clarify things further: www.joomlaworks.net/content/view/51/41/

I'm not sure why but it seems that the admins here are ignoring a bunch of valid concerns -- I'm adding this one again because I have had no responses that address the issue...
"I have tested too and still can not get the pop-up (tried all the engines) from the first - third image in a gallery to work with IE8 (or below); when I have five or more images displaying and click the fourth image or later, it works without a problem.

My problem being that the polaroid layout does not show correctly within IE9 (and possibly earlier versions)
I have read all the responses and Joomlaworks stands by the fact that the problem is with IE, and whilst I agree, I find it a tad dissapointing that they cant come up with a solution, as was the case with my first issue in which I posted a solution, only for Joomlaworks to claim they have the solution in the next update. Coincedence that the issue had been going on for months.
Anyway it took me all of half an hour to come up with a satisfactory solution for myself that, although you do not get the function of the image rotating and enlarging on hover, the look is the same, and I have not had to take the view of Joomlaworks of changing to another gallery when I want to use this one.
Please take a look here www.p-k-solutions.co.uk/sigpro-polaroids and see what you think. If you want to know how just email with the address on the site. If anyone could advise if this works on ie8 and lower that would be great.

I cannot see how you are requesting a support ticket for this issue that has been asked numerous times on these forums and you were unable to issue a solution. What difference would a ticket have made?
Possibly to keep peoples remarks hidden?

However, we don't provide support for commercial extension via this form anymore. If you have active subscription and you want to ask any question related to SIG PRO you should post in the Ticket Support System!
